PHILADELPHIA (May 2, 2019) – East Market today announced a series of exciting events taking place throughout the spring and summer months. There really will be something for everyone!
Bounded by Market, Chestnut, and 11th & 12th streets, the East Market project has transformed the city’s primary east-west corridor into a dynamic full block of leading stores, popular restaurants, creative office spaces and two brand new luxury apartment towers – The Ludlow and The Girard – both of which are now leasing.
Additionally, the project is connected by a reinvented, pedestrian-friendly Ludlow Street streetscape and a 35-foot wide pedestrian walkway spanning Market Street to Chestnut Street, now known as Chestnut Walk. Designed by Groundswell Design Group (Spruce Street Harbor Park and Cherry Street Pier), the carefully curated landscaping creates a vibrant urban hangout in Center City featuring greenery, a hanging light installation and custom swings for residents and visitors to enjoy year-round.
Taking full advantage of this beautiful new space, East Market will be hosting a number of must-attend events over the next few months. Already underway is the project’s Saturday Series, which features a variety of engaging events and programs such as floral arrangement making classes, dog-friendly “yappy” hours (benefitting Paws of PA and Pennsylvania SPCA), outdoor yard games, food and drink specials, live entertainment and a steady rotation of the city’s most sought after food trucks.
Beginning in May, East Market will open its highly anticipated outdoor beer garden featuring Iron Hill Brewery specials and food from District Taco. The beer garden will also participate in Center City Sips and operate every Wednesday from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. through August.
For those looking to spring into shape this season, East Market is partnering with City Fitness to host “Top Secret Tuesday” workout classes every Tuesday evening through July 2. Each Top Secret Tuesday incorporates a workout, a distinct theme and a festive atmosphere (think DJs, water balloons and body paint). The workouts and themes will remain tightly under wraps until 8 p.m. the Sunday before each week’s event, at which point City Fitness will reveal the details via Instagram and at cityfitnessphilly.com/Tuesdays.
“East Market is one of the most transformative projects that Center City has seen in years and therefore, it is essential for us to create a dynamic, fun and engaging experience for our residents and visitors,” said Michelle Johnstone, Director, Marketing and Communications at East Market. “From luxury apartment towers and top-tier stores and restaurants to exciting events being hosted regularly under the twinkling lights, East Market truly has something for everyone.”
In addition to all of the great events taking place at East Market, the neighborhood features retail tenants such as T.J. Maxx, MOM’s Organic Market, Wawa, Iron Hill Brewery, City Fitness, AT&T, Little Baby’s Ice Cream and District Taco.
