District Taco to Open in Center City Philadelphia

Washington, D.C. (February 20, 2019) – District Taco, a popular fast-casual Mexican restaurant in the D.C. Metro area, is opening its second restaurant in the Philadelphia area on February 27, 2019. The restaurant is located in the East Market Development, on Market Street between 11th and 12th Streets at Chestnut Walk. The restaurant, at 1140 Market Street, will join Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, Wawa, Little Baby’s Ice Cream, City Fitness, and MOM’s Organic Market as well as new residential buildings.

This marks the second restaurant opening in the Greater Philadelphia area for restaurateur Osiris Hoil and his rapidly growing restaurant chain. The company, which now employs more than 400 people and operates 12 locations throughout D.C, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, expects to expand with a restaurant in Silver Spring, Maryland, and another Philadelphia location in Abington, PA, adding 100 employees to the company in 2019. From there, the restaurant group plans to open an additional eight restaurants in 2020.

The Grand Opening for the Center City location will be on Wednesday, February 27th at 12pm. The first 100 customers in line will receive a District Taco goodie bag full of swag and a free meal. The first 13 in line will also receive a gift card for future purchases, to commemorate the opening of the 13th outlet. A portion of the day’s profits will go to Philabundance, the area’s largest hunger relief organization and proud member of Feeding America on a mission to make nutritious food accessible to all. “Giving back to the community is important to me. Especially working around food, we are always looking to give back when we can,” added Hoil. Patrons can expect a large celebration and are encouraged to get their place in line early.

“We are so excited to open another restaurant in the Philadelphia community and create more jobs and opportunities in the area,” Osiris says. “After starting as a single taco cart in Arlington, Virginia, it is incredible to see what hard work and determination can do. We couldn’t have done it without the team that we have and the amazing communities we have now become a part of.”

Hoil and the District Taco team are excited for the opening of this second restaurant and are eager to hear the reaction to the cuisine, especially in a city with such a well-known foodie scene. Offering a Yucatan style menu that includes seafood specials and all-day breakfast, the team is excited to see what the future holds for District Taco.

“Philadelphia is known for its traditions and culture surrounding iconic foods. We hope that when people get a hand on our delicious tacos, they’ll want to add District Taco to the list of their favorite foodie spots in the city,” says Hoil.

About District Taco
In 2009, two neighbors got together over some homemade chips, salsa and guacamole and decided to launch a District Taco food cart. Since then, District Taco has since grown to twelve locations and employs over 400 people in and around the Washington D.C. metro and Philadelphia area. Our mission is to serve quality Mexican (Yucatan style!) food that is fresh, simple and healthy. All of our food is made fresh daily from the highest quality ingredients. We strive to limit our impact on the environment by serving in environmentally friendly packaging where possible.
